Now, let's be clear, LEJOG is most certainly not a race or a competition with winners or losers...but we won! (Dave, Neil, Pamela & Pete that is!)
I won't go on about it, but we crossed the finish line first - that's it, enough said!
Unfortunately, even though Adam and Anders were ahead they may have taken a wrong turn and maybe Anders suffered a puncture or 2, which resulted in them being delayed...but these are mere details...we came first!
The ride up to lunch was glorious. We woke to a frost, but the skies were clear and the sun was shining. The ride up through the hills was stunning, beautiful landscape. Had some steady climbs up, but again rewarded with an impressive downhill. We decided to have a competition to see who could go the fastest without pedalling, and just roll - slightly unfair unadvantage for Pamela who is about 50kg lighter than everyone else, so she cheated and pedalled!
The ride after lunch was nice too, but all we want to do is get to camp. Covered 82 miles today.

Hi all, Well done! it sounds like everything is moving along well & that a good time is being had by all. Time to start considering riding back, while your at it whats a few extra miles.
ReplyDeleteWe are wishing we could be there. Imaginary cycling from an armchair is great! Hope the weather holds for the most spectacular part of the journey.
ReplyDeleteWell done.
Sounds like a good day and the blog done by 8.30pm! Just 3 and half days to go! enjoy the next couple of days. Looks like the weather is with you until Wed, windy but dry. Take care over the next couple of days xxx
ReplyDeleteAnother great day, you are obviously enjoying it more and more as each day passes. There is no doubt that you have exceeded your own expectations. On to the finish!!
ReplyDeleteAt this rate you'll want to cycle home! No? Tomorrow look out for the birds of prey at Boat of Garten, as you'll be near Grantown on Spey, protected breeding home for the Ospreys. I can see from the route that the Lochs are not far away so 'duck' ! I'm enjoying running through the map my route, presumably in a helicopter!
ReplyDeleteWell done to all of you - seems like its more fun than you expected. Enjoy your trip to Blair Athol - see you on Tuesday at Helmsdale.
