The Lejogers were in good spirits this morning as they were welcomed into Cheddar by family and friends. Thank you to everyone who was able to make it to KOW today. I'm sure the support will have made Shipham hill a little easier!
The group made good progress after Cheddar getting to Bristol by 12.30 and arriving at Gloucester just before 4pm, despite Adam, Pete and Anders taking a wrong turn! The support team (James, Yas and Nicky) have done a great job in camp tonight - the fine weather and flat field certainly helped with the tent!

Well done on a very successful day, by the sound of it. Can only re-iterate the importance of drafting already mentioned in several comments, why do you think they operate a peleton in professional cycling. See you tomorrow evening in Stafford - table for 11 booked for 7pm.
ReplyDeleteGreat to see the team today in Cheddar. It was very moving & Andy would have been SO proud of you all. Well done everyone, inluding Chris with her mountains of flapjack!
ReplyDeleteA THANK YOU BLOG - Well done to the whole team, cyclists and supporters alike. The stop at Cheddar was very successful, with a brilliant turn out of family and friends. Thank you so much for coming - it was really appreciated by everyone. Halfords were in force to support and used their skills to perfect a few problems. Thanks to them for that. Cake bakers - thank you for your gifts of plenty - very well received by all. Even a chilli meal for tonight. It was also so brilliant to see several of Andy's ex colleagues and students as well as so many friends and neighbours. Thank you to Tony, the photographer from the Cheddar Valley newspaper - he was so patient and laid back about the whole of the proceedings and will hopefully get us a good coverage in this week's papers. Thanks also to the caretaker for helping us during his holiday as I presume that he opened the gates for us and I trust closed them again!! This whole event is a massive achievement, as I know that the cyclists are all aching and very tired already. Please add your comments to this blogsite to help keep their spirits high and keep them motivated. Have a good ride tomorrow everyone and enjoy your meal in Stafford with dear friends of Andy's and my family.
ReplyDeleteGood to see you all looking fit and strong this morning at KOW. This will have to be my last comment for the next seven days as we are driving up to Scotland tomorrow(Tues.) so will be thinking of you as we DRIVE up the M5. Hope everything continues to run smoothly and the wind is behind you!
ReplyDeleteFran & Al Cuff send you their best wishes and say that they are thinking about you and are with you in spirit. They tried to see you in the Callington/Gunnislake area on Saturday; they saw the minibus, and shouted their best for JOG to a couple of cyclists, who looked totally bemused ...... not you folks then!!!
